An exquisite smaller-size double brass photo frame from the Napoleon III period with a detailed divider between the two beveled glasses. Each glass measures 4 1/8 inches by 2 3/4 inches. The two frames together measure 6 ¼ inches at their widest point at the top and 5 1/4 inches high to the top of the bows. The brass frame has spring mechanisms in the back.
Hold the photographs and the thick beveled glasses tightly and an easel foot. The top of the frames is decorated with a delicate flowing ribbon motif, and is full-backed indicating high quality manufacturing. One glass has a tiny chip in the bottom corner, not very visible with a photograph in place and a minuscule nibble on a back edge.
The other thick beveled glass is in excellent condition - no chips and no fissures. Dating from the 1870s 1880s, it is rare to find double frames in very good condition.
