The box has two HOOK SNECKS still in situ at the front. Of very good fine quality manufacture..... This could be used to store photos, portrait miniatures, or cameos etc.
As there is a couple of mm leeway inside the frame between the base and the glass. The gilt base metal frames are slightly decorated and have glass in situ which is loose. The back of the frames have those simply sharp triangular shaped bits that bend easy back and forth.. No maker's marks etc.
It is in collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear. A few of the brass claws off the back are missing.
The case's hinge is broken down the back seam. Please see pictures for more details. The little miniature frames are about 1 and a 1/4 inch wide x 1 and 1/2 inch tall x 3/16ths inch deep..
By the time you have something in the frame and the depth of the glass. The insets are 1 and 1/8th inch wide x 1 and a 1/4 inch long x 5.5mm deep. The box is 4 and a 1/4 inch long x 2 and 5/8ths inch wide x 5/8ths deep. Would be a nice restoration project for someone during this lockdown we all find ourselves in. Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter.
In the title or description it means. Condition which may have scuffs, scratches and damage.
